This workshop will enhance your understanding and love of the plants while you discover their potential to create patterns and colour on fabric in an environmentally friendly manner.
Firstly, we will make a brief introduction about the technique and all the elements which are necessary to achieve a permanent print.
Right after that we will get to work and make our bundles because we will need to steam our eco-printed fabric pieces for 1,5 hours. While they are being processed, we will have more time to talk about the preliminary preparation of the fabric, more explanation about the processes, what makes the pigment of the plants bound to the fabric and the leaves.
Once the steam process is finished, we will then open our fabric, remove the leaves, examine, and enjoy the results.
This workshop will provide you a solid base and a basic understanding of the processes involved in Eco-printing. You will be explained and have the opportunity to practically apply all the steps which are essential for clear and permanent prints.
You will go back home with a small silk scarf (45x 45 cm) and a piece of wool fabric (40x 40 cm) which will be printed by your own hands.
All materials required for the workshop will be provided including the silk scarf (45x45 cm) and the wool fabric (40x40 cm) You will get a wide variety of plants, the barriers, poles, twines, and necessary equipment to steam the fabric. You will also get an apron and gloves.
Tea, water, coffee and cookies will be ready for you as well.
