On August 2020, we opened the doors of Creative Town. This was a dream, a huge step, an act of courage some people said, being in the middle of pandemic. We were positive and the results were great, but just a couple of months after, COVID numbers were not good so we had to face stricter rules and even a total lockdown.
Fortunately, since October we started to work on our Fridays project:
the Webshop. Last Friday we launched it!! This was another risk, another dream, a must. It was time to offer another platform for all these women whose hands are silently creating amazing items in their “Zolders”(attics).
Now you can see and buy great products created by many talented women. Soon, you will also be able to discover and support local services providers.
But there are other things that you can't see on our webshop, fundamental things that are behind every line of code!
These are out top five:
1. Joy!!
As mentioned before, this was our Fridays Project. Very quickly, the Fridays became the favorite day. For some weeks, we could go to the office, with a mask and distance. Later on, we did it remotely.
It was work, but never felt like it.. it was a real pleasure. We worked, of course, but we also shared yummy food, we connected, we got to know each other and we laughed… a lot. It was our Friday borrel.
2. Talent
5 very creative women are behind the webshop, combining their specific talents and skills. We didn’t plan it like that, one after the other just joined the project.. At the end it was an amazing team, all volunteers, all committed, like it was meant to be!New Paragraph
3. Co-creation
Co-creation is our backbone, and this project was not any different. We faced the challenges together, we found solutions and we took decisions together, sometimes really quickly. Even the slogan was co-created:
Behind every product is a story of transformation.
This was, truly, a small community of kindred spirits creating a solution for all the makers needing a platform to sell online.
4. Courage
Can we do this? Is it worth? Do we have enough resources? Is it going to be good? Who doesn’t have fear before starting a project?
We all have different backgrounds and skills but we are all creative and that is powerful. As Elizabeth Gilbert wrote: “When I talk about “creative living” is not necessarily … about pursuing a life that is professionally or exclusively devoted to the arts.. I’m talking about living a life that is driven more strongly by curiosity than by fear”.
The team behind the webshop was not fearless, but we were ready to uncover the hidden treasures within us and within many other creative women.
5. Love
Why all these women work voluntarily for months, fully committed, giving their best?
Because we felt inspired by all the entrepreneur women every time we receive the photos of their products.
Because we learned from each other,
Because we love what we do.
