It is said that autumn is the time of change and transition. Could it be the current season or perhaps the still ongoing pandemic, that forced or helped us bring to the surface different things that needed to be seen better, but for sure the good came along while bringing to light or even discovering passions that were deep hidden inside or about which we didn’t even know a few months or years ago.
This being said, we are always delighted to welcome fresh energy and new creative women in our community, so please enjoy yourself reading the stories of these ladies and their passion, that became a small business. These 5 talented women have registered their business in the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) during October and we wish them tons of success.
Kaftaan Queens is the pandemic passion project of Sameen Ansari.
It was born out of her love for all things, combining bespoke comfort and sustainable luxury. The Kaftaan is an extremely versatile garment that immediately transforms its wearer into a Queen – and that is the goal for Sameen – to unleash the dormant regal Queen in all of us!
Kaftaans ought to be a staple in every Queen’s wardrobe, they are perfect for every occasion and personality whether you identify as the Boss Queen, The Soccer Mom Queen, The Life of the Party Queen, The Romantic Queen, The WanderLust Queen, The Couch Potato Queen, The Fitness Queen, The DIY Queen, and every other kind of Queen.
Every Kaftaan presented by Sameen is unique, just like the Queen who wears it.
Catalina (Also known as Cata) comes originally from Medellín, Colombia. She has been living in The Netherlands for 6 years.
Cata is a Software test engineer, but she has always had another passion: Photography. She feels that she can explore her creative side while connecting with people's love stories. Cata defines herself as creative, curious and good listener; she is a fan of honest stories and she can truly capture people's emotions.
During a photoshoot, Cata tries to make you feel comfortable and with her spontaneous activities and silly jokes guides you through the session, in order to achieve natural and casual poses. Her photographic style is moody with earthy tones that play with natural light and nature.
Cata loves celebrating love and being part of people's special milestones gives her a lot of excitement and motivates her to deliver unforgettable memories. This year, after some months of exploring her photography passion, she decided to take it to another level and make it official
Carolina Romero Grandas is the owner of “Roseate Needle” an online store that is not just a bag’s brand, it is an expression of happiness, cuteness and joy.
Two years ago she had the idea to start making backpacks, pencil cases and bags without knowing how to do it, so her first step was to buy a sewing machine and start playing around with different fabrics and textures.
Her learning curve has been exciting, challenging and sometimes daunting, but now she can say that it was completely worth it.
She conveys the idea of being happy through the fabric patterns used in the elaboration of the bags, they show the beauty of nature, a lot of colour and cute designs that you can enjoy on a daily basis. You can’t help but smile when you wear them.
In conclusion, Roseate Needle is designed to inspire a positive attitude.
Cindy Knox is the creator behind The Metal Muse. From a young age, she has enjoyed creating beautiful art and is especially inspired by all living creatures and how she can incorporate their presence into her creations, for her clients and business.
She is a practising Metal Artist who also teaches a rare form of art called Repoussé, also referred to as repujado. It is a form of art that in short allows you to etch and emboss metal (Pewter, Copper or Brass Sheets of metal) by hand with various tools. Her intent is to create bespoke gifts or art pieces that can be handed down through generations to come.
The Metal Muse is her way of sharing the love for creating beautiful items for loved ones, friends and clients but it is also her way of giving an opportunity to others to create what inspires them.
Alejandra from Mexico. She is a self thought painting artist, crazy about colours and textures. She works with oil, acrylic and watercolor paints.
Her work is inspired by nature, animals, traditions, superstitions, etc. She loves to paint the human figure the most especially the face and its expressions. Usually she finds inspiration in fine art photography on the internet. If an image keeps coming back to her thoughts then it means that she really needs to paint it.
She runs an Etsy Shop. There you can find all the artworks that are available for sale. If you are interested in a sold-out item, or you have an artwork idea feel free to reach her as she also makes commissions. And every year around Christmas she sells watercolour cards that you can buy for affordable prices, sometimes they are even free to download!
Congratulations to these talented and courageous ladies!!
