LIQUID RAINBOW

Caño Cristales is a Colombian river located in the Serrania de la Macarena province of Meta. The river is commonly called the "River of Five Colors" or the "Liquid Rainbow," due to its striking colors. The plants in the river bed colored it in yellow, green, blue, black and red from the end of July through November.

The ' tagua' seeds come from the tree with the same name, also known as 'vegetal ivory'. The kernels are picked up from the ground after the ripe fruit has detached from the tree and forest animals have taken care of the pericarp, or harvested when ripe and the pericarp manually removed.

For this project, the tagua seeds have been peeled up in 'chips', that are usually the residues of using the seeds for big jewelry. These chips have been colored using 12 tones. The shapes and colors represent the river colors and its movement.

Sally is a Colombian architect specialized in Spain in Heritage Restoration, and living in the Netherlands from about 12 years. She converted her hobby of making jewelry into her profession.
